President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the direct role and interference of the United States, the Israeli regime, and certain European countries in the recent events in Iran were evident.
In a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, the Iranian president discussed regional and international developments, focusing primarily on the recent incidents in Iran.
He emphasized Iran’s domestic policy approach, noting that Iranian officials’ approach in domestic policy is people-centric, and all their efforts are focused on listening to the legitimate demands of the people and mitigating the problems stemming from the oppressive sanctions.
He added that the Iranian nation decisively quelled the unrest shortly after the beginning of the events through massive, epic turnout.
President Pezeshkian thanked Russia for its supportive stance regarding the Islamic Republic’s rights in the UN and other international forums, noting the strong cooperation between Tehran and Moscow across trade, investment, transport, and energy sectors, with joint projects progressing well.
President Putin conveyed his warm greetings to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation, describing the recent events in Iran as resembling color revolution scenarios, fully understanding that economic and social issues arise due to long-term, unjust sanctions.
The Russian president differentiated the recent unrest in Iran from peaceful protest, saying that riot and sedition have no parallel with peaceful and civil protest.
President Putin condemned the rioters’ attacks on public, and religious facilities and acts of violence against security forces, viewing the subsequent millions-strong rallies in support of the Islamic Revolution as a clear indicator of the actual situation in Iran.
He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties, noting that continuous high-level follow-up on joint projects demonstrates the depth of the sincere relationship, with further commercial cooperation to be explored soon.
