President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Pir-Hossein Kolivand as the new President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
In his official decree on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian underscored the importance of Kolivand's leadership in fostering effective collaboration with both domestic and international non-governmental organizations.
The president emphasized the necessity of maintaining constructive interactions with the International Red Cross to ensure the efficient delivery of humanitarian services.
Pezeshkian stated that he expects Kolivand to lead and oversee the proper execution of the Iranian Red Crescent Society's activities while effectively utilizing available resources to provide humanitarian services to those in need, particularly victims of natural and unforeseen disasters.
The presidential decree outlined Kolivand's appointment for a term of four years, following a majority vote from the esteemed members of the High Council of the Iranian Red Crescent Society on October 6, 2025.
President Pezeshkian called for Kolivand to adhere to the constitutional framework, the objectives of the National Vision Document, and the ethical charter of the administration. He highlighted the critical role of the society in alleviating human suffering, defending human values, and promoting mutual friendship and lasting peace among nations.
