President Masoud Pezeshkian said that Iran hopes the activation of the snapback mechanism does not occur; however, the Islamic Republic is fully prepared to respond to any scenario, adjusting its policies and interactions according to the evolving situation.
In a meeting with Bolivian President Luis Arce Catacora on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday, the Iranian president criticized the unilateral policies of the United States, stating that these approaches not only target Iran but also affect all nations that do not align with US strategies.
He urged countries that value their independence and position in the international system to enhance their scientific, technical, and specialized capabilities to safeguard their national interests and sovereignty.
Pezeshkian acknowledged Bolivia's collaboration with Iran over the years and highlighted the recent political developments in Bolivia. He noted that the future of Tehran-La Paz relations depends on the mutual will and determination of the two nations' senior officials. He reassured that Iran is committed to fostering strong ties and that Bolivia's policy direction will play a crucial role in shaping future cooperation.
The Bolivian president expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and echoed concerns about US militaristic policies, particularly in the Caribbean region, labeling them a threat to international peace and security. He reaffirmed Bolivia's desire for continued and deepened friendly relations with Iran, emphasizing the positive impact of Iran's presence in Latin America over the years.
