In a message to the International Congress of Shahryar, President Masoud Pezeshkian praised the celebrated Iranian poet for his significant contributions to Persian literature and culture.
The National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature is observed every year on the death anniversary of contemporary poet Mohammad-Hossein Behjat Tabrizi, known as Shahriar.
President Pezeshkian on Thursday emphasized that Shahryar adeptly upheld the literary legacy established by earlier giants such as Rudaki, Ferdowsi, Sa’di, Nezami and Hafez.
The president remarked that honoring Shahryar is a tribute to the cultural heritage of Iran and Persian literature, which has been preserved by poets like him.
He described Shahryar's poetry as a reflection of the diverse and vibrant spirit of Islamic Iran, filled with creativity, passion, and love for life.
Pezeshkian noted that Shahryar’s verses are not only a celebration of love but also a profound expression of Iranian identity.
The president highlighted Shahryar's ability to resonate with the human experience, portraying life through a shared language that transcends boundaries.
Shahryar's deep understanding of music enriched his poetry, adding a unique delicacy to his words, Pezeshkian said. His works, including devotional pieces, are celebrated as some of the most beautiful poems of the current era, the president added.
Pezeshkian concluded by reiterating that Shahryar's legacy embodies a love for humanity and high moral values, making his commemoration a vital part of preserving Iran's rich cultural heritage.
