First Vice President Mohammad-Reza Aref emphasized that preserving national solidarity and cohesion is Iran’s most important issue at the present time.

First Vice President Aref stresses national unity as key priority

Speaking at the 114th meeting of the Cabinet on Wednesday morning, Aref called on all political groups to contribute to strengthening unity and avoid divisive debates that could cause problems.

He underlined that while all parties are legally free to express their positions on various issues, safeguarding national cohesion must remain a priority. He warned that any divisive discourse will only result in damage.

Referring to the upcoming Government Week (August 24-30), he urged cabinet members to reflect the administration’s sincere efforts to serve the nation. On August 30, Iran commemorates the anniversary of the martyrdom of President Mohammad-Ali Rajai, Prime Minister Mohammad-Javad Bahonar, and other officials, an event honored annually as the start of Government Week.

Aref also announced the formation of a special committee to commemorate the Unity Week and the 1,500th anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet of Islam. He noted that special coordination, both domestically and internationally, is required to mark the occasion.
