President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that addressing the challenge of water scarcity requires fundamental, comprehensive, and region-specific solutions.

President calls for comprehensive, region-specific solutions to address water scarcity in Iran

He made these remarks during a session on Sunday morning, where administration officials and academics gathered to explore scientific and practical strategies to tackle the country's water scarcity issues.

Pezeshkian underscored the importance of achieving a balance between water resources and consumption, which he identified as a crucial condition for sustainable development. He called for the development of scientific, comprehensive, and region-specific strategies to effectively address the water scarcity crisis.

Additionally, he stressed the necessity of establishing specialized working groups that bring together the administration and universities, highlighting the critical role of raising awareness among managers, officials, and policymakers regarding the current water situation and the underlying causes of these challenges.

Pezeshkian also pointed to the national media as a vital force in enhancing public awareness and mobilizing community action to implement preventive measures and policies. He further noted the significance of education in schools as an essential factor in cultivating a culture of water resource preservation and preparing the next generation.

The president referenced the role of third and fourth-generation universities globally, which, beyond their educational missions, focus on solving pressing issues. 

Pezeshkian expressed his expectation that Iranian universities will actively engage with national challenges and provide practical, innovative solutions, ensuring that the results of their educational and research efforts contribute to the balanced and sustainable development of the country.
