During the ceremony, President Pezeshkian praised the efforts of engineers, managers, and officials involved in the plant’s construction and operation.

He emphasized the importance of accelerating the completion of the plant’s remaining phases, highlighting its strategic location near the Persian Gulf and the national railway network, an advantage that will streamline domestic transportation and facilitate exports.

He also underscored that preventing the spread of water-intensive industries in Iran’s central regions and shifting industrial development toward the Persian Gulf is a key strategic policy of his administration. The Ministry of Industry, Mine, and Trade, he said, will actively pursue this direction.

The plant was launched in a year designated by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution as the “Year of Investment for Production.” As the country’s first facility to produce titanium concentrate, it represents a significant industrial milestone.

With the opening of this facility, which has generated over 1,100 direct and indirect jobs, a substantial share of the country's titanium concentrate needs will be met domestically, reducing reliance on imports and preventing considerable foreign currency outflow.

Located in the south of Kerman Province, the Kahnuj titanium mine was also inaugurated in 2023. It holds a confirmed reserve of 150 million tons and an estimated reserve of 240 million tons, spanning an area of 40 square kilometers.
