President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized that the Iranian people’s unity and resilience in the face of foreign aggression pose significant challenges for adversaries.
In response to a phone call from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian noted that the Zionist regime and its supporters had hoped to create dissatisfaction among Iranians; however, the Iranian people demonstrated that, despite some problems, they remain united against enemy aggression.
President Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for Malaysia's stance regarding recent events, stating the Zionist regime attacked the Islamic Republic during indirect negotiations between Iran and the US, believing that Tehran lacked the capacity to respond and would surrender within a few days. The Zionist regime and its supporters also relied on inciting dissatisfaction and mobilizing the Iranian people, he added.
Pezeshkian emphasized that countries claiming to defend human rights and civilization only observed the crimes of the Zionist regime against Iranian scientists and ordinary people. When the Zionist regime failed to achieve its objectives, the US directly participated in anti-Iran crimes and, contrary to all international rules, attacked Iranian nuclear sites.
The president also pointed out that Iran regards all neighboring and regional countries as friends and brothers, and has always sought to deepen and strengthen relations and cooperation with them.
Iran was compelled to respond to US crimes by attacking its air base in Qatar, he said, noting that this does not mean Iran is in conflict with the government and people of Qatar.
Following Iran's firm response to the US actions, a ceasefire proposal was presented, Pezeshkian stated, adding, “If the Zionist regime does not violate the ceasefire, Iran will not do so.”
The Malaysian prime minister, in response, condemned once again the military aggression of the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ibrahim reiterated: “We strongly defend your right to respond to this aggression. The courage and firm resolve of the Iranian people in pursuit of justice is a source of pride for all Muslims. Israel's position regarding the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons is absolutely unacceptable; it possesses all nuclear capabilities itself but seeks to deprive other countries of their legitimate rights.”
He also stated that Iran has the capacity to defend itself, and Israel is well aware of this. “We understand that Iran had to attack the US base in Qatar, and we will explain this to the leaders of Islamic and neighboring countries in our interactions and consultations. We hope that negotiations to establish and expand peace and stability in the region will begin and bear fruit as soon as possible."
