President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran is prepared to reach an agreement in the indirect talks with the United States, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Islamic Republic’s national interests.
Addressing the Persian New Year’s second meeting with governor generals of provinces across the country at the Ministry of Interior on Monday, President Pezeshkian said that as the Leader of the Islamic Revolution stated, “we are neither optimistic nor pessimistic.”
“In negotiations with the United States, we are ready to reach an agreement within the established framework while preserving national interests,” he said. “However, if they are unwilling to negotiate with us from an equal position, we will continue on our own path.”
Regarding the indirect talks mediated by Oman, the president mentioned that his administration has emphasized from the very beginning its desire to enhance political, economic, scientific, and cultural relationships with other states, particularly Islamic and neighboring countries. He added that the Islamic Republic pursues constructive interaction based on mutual respect.
Pezeshkian also stated that the Iranian nation does not seek conflict but will not accept bullying and pressure. He noted that numerous Iranian elites have been assassinated because adversaries do not want to see talented individuals remain in the country, so that it can bring any calamity to this nation and its resources.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the president advocated for balanced development in Iran’s provinces to pave the way for realizing this year’s motto, “Investment for Production,” designated by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
He urged governor generals to prioritize the alleviation of energy imbalances, the development of educational equity, and the improvement of people’s livelihoods through creative management to foster sustainable and balanced progress.
