Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his consultations with the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, resulted in significant decisions aimed at deepening relations and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
President Pezeshkian made this comment during a joint press conference with the Qatari Emir in Tehran on Wednesday. He said that the Islamic Republic is committed to enhancing ties with neighboring and regional states across various sectors, including political, economic, cultural, security and military fields.
Pezeshkian noted that the two senior officials addressed issues of mutual interest and reached important agreements to strengthen bilateral ties while identifying new opportunities for cooperation.
The president emphasized that the ongoing meetings between Iranian and Qatari officials reflect strong historical, cultural and economic connections between the two nations, as well as their aligned perspectives on regional and international matters.
He said that the Islamic Republic believes regional states can achieve stability and security by fostering a policy of good neighborliness, mutual respect and constructive interaction.
Regarding Iran’s stance on Syria, President Pezeshkian reaffirmed the importance of preserving territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Arab country, along with the necessity for all Syrian people to participate in determining their future governance.
Further in his remarks, the president expressed appreciation for Doha’s efforts in facilitating a ceasefire in Gaza, stating: “The esteemed Emir of Qatar and I also consulted on the current developments in the region, and I would like to extend my gratitude for the Qatari government’s mediating efforts in recent months to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of innocent Palestinian prisoners.”
Pezeshkian also underscored the need for unified stance to support the oppressed people of Gaza and halt the atrocities committed by Zionist regime.
“We believe that all governments and nations in the region and the world must make every effort, grounded in divine and human values, to defend the rights of the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza, so they can live safely in their historical homeland,” the Iranian president emphasized.
