Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has praised the inauguration of a large number of infrastructure and civil construction projects by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, saying the move shows that staff at the ministry are seriously pursuing activities.
The president made the comment on Wednesday in Tehran where a virtual ceremony was held to inaugurate those projects in several provinces across the country.
“A major measure has been taken,” said Pezeshkian, expressing appreciation for all those contributing to the implementation of the projects which he said included 82,590 housing units in urban and rural areas, 2,296 transportation projects, and 85 meteorology projects.
Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh spoke at the start of the ceremony as well.
She said some of the projects were inaugurated several decades after they had been launched.
She also said that the current administration is working on other projects to improve housing, adding that ten comprehensive plans have already been launched in the past several months for the construction of housing units in urban areas.
Sadegh noted that the administration is also working on plans to remove accident-prone locations on roads, which she said has resulted in a reduction of fatalities from 13,000 people during last Iranian year (March 2023-March 2024) to 11,000 this year that will end on March 20.
