Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said that the Islamic Republic aims to develop ties and synergy among Muslim nations, as well as enhance the power of the Islamic world.

Iran aims to strengthen power of Islamic world, says President Pezeshkian

In a meeting with Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmat Hajiyev, President Pezeshkian said on Sunday that Iran plans to expand relations with Islamic and neighboring countries, emphasizing that any disputes among Muslims could provide enemies with opportunities to intervene.

Concerning Iran-Azerbaijan relations, the president highlighted the necessity of strengthening ties in various sectors, including political, economic, cultural, defense and security. He added that Tehran seeks to swiftly remove obstacles to trade and transportation between the two countries. 

Pezeshkian also underscored the significance of preserving territorial integrity of regional states as one of the main principles of Iran’s foreign policy, noting that changes to borders are unacceptable.

The Iranian president expressed hope that he would host his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliev in Tehran.

Hajiyev, for his part, conveyed President Aliev’s warm greetings to President Pezeshkian, and congratulated the Iranian president on the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

The Azerbaijani official expressed his country's readiness to improve bilateral relations, noting that Azerbaijan is determined to expand ties and cooperation with Iran.

He also conveyed an official invitation from President Aliev to Pezeshkian to visit Baku, adding that the people of Azerbaijan are eager for this trip.
