Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in the Russian capital Moscow for an official visit at the invitation of his counterpart Vladimir Putin.

Upon arrival, Pezeshkian was welcomed by Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev who also presides over the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between the two countries. 

During Pezeshkian’s visit, Iran and Russia will sign their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, a key accord aimed at enhancing ties between the countries in different fields including economy and security. 

Pezeshkian and Putin will hold private talks and then attend a press conference to elaborate reporters on the result of their negotiations.

The Iranian president is also scheduled to take part in a meeting with Russian economic players. 

Russia is the second leg of Pezeshkian’s tour that kicked off on Wednesday and earlier took him to Tajikistan.
