The president issued the directive on Saturday in a meeting on addressing imbalances in the gas sector, which was also attended by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Judiciary Chief Gholam Hossein Mohseni Eje'i.

He elaborated on a national program to improve energy imbalances in the gas sector, with the details of the program later discussed by Pezeshkian, Qalibaf and Mohseni Eje'I, who are the heads of the three branches of the Iranian government.

The president called for fair decision-making when it comes to collecting information regarding household gas consumption, with the aim of preventing injustice to lower income groups.

He also said high-consumption energy users should be fined, and at the same time, motivational plans must be prepared for low-consumption users. Educating the public to adhere to consumption patterns through media and public forums is of importance as well, he added.
