President Pezeshkian says resolving foreign tensions required to guarantee 8% economic growth

Addressing members and provincial secretaries of the Moderation and Development Party in Tehran on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian stated that the country needs to resolve tensions and foreign issues in order to effectively implement its macro development plans and achieve the targeted 8% economic growth.

At the same time, he added, state companies and economic agencies are being monitored, and their managers are obliged to compensate for possible losses if they fail to make their relevant agency or company to earn a profit.

Pezeshkian said that unity and creating a common view and language are the only way to resolve problems, stressing that an effective ruling system needs a powerful society and its people’s active participation in order to take steps forward on the right path.

The president said, in line with his plans to choose any person capable of assisting in the government’s goal to build Iran, he has even chosen individuals who had voted for his rivals in the presidential election held earlier in 2024.

“The 20 Year National Vision Document and national policies have their roots in collective wisdom; therefore, no one can cast doubt on their goals and overall approach, which aim to improve the country’s position as a leading nation in the region”, Pezeshkian explained.

He referred to his government’s efforts to pursue the implementation of development plans including Zahedan-Chabahar railway and the development of the Makran region, saying that these projects will greatly contribute to efforts to elevate Iran’s position in the region.

Pezeshkian also pointed out to his government’s move to appoint deputies, ministers, and governor generals from among religious minorities, women, and various ethnic groups, saying that the appointments are the result of efforts to create a common language and view among different sectors of the governing system.

Those achievements would have been impossible without the support and cooperation of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

As part of other measures taken by his government since taking office in late July, President Pezeshkian said that a comprehensive system is being defined that precisely determines the duties of government bodies and the way they are implemented. He added that the measure is being taken with the aim of improving the fulfillment of those duties, using the best possible model.

In addition, the content of documents and macro plans are being reviewed in order to rectify the parts that cannot be implemented, the president further said, adding that measures are also being taken to create maximum transparency to help eliminate grounds for corruption, economic rent, and discrimination.
