The Iranian cabinet approved new governor generals for the provinces of Kurdistan as well as Kohgiluyeh-and-Boyer Ahmad.
The cabinet, during its meeting on Wednesday (September 18), approved Yadollaha Rahmani as the new governor general of Kohgiluyeh-and-Boyer Ahmad Province in southwest Iran.
The ministers also approved Arash Zerehtan Lahoni as the governor general of the western province of Kurdistan.
Zerehtan previously served as representative of the city of Marivan in the Iranian parliament.
He is the first Sunni governor general in Iran, who has been appointed to the top provincial post in line with President Masoud Pezeshkian's election promise to enhance unity and choose officials from among the most capable individuals regardless of their religion, ethnicity and race
