By sending a message while stressing the protection of the Islamic Republic of Iran's territorial integrity and national sovereignty, Dr Pezeshkian described such measures as a sign of the impasse of the policies of the Zionist regime.
Following the criminal act of assassination of Haj Ismail Haniyeh, Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau, on early Wednesday who had travelled to Tehran for the swearing-in ceremony of the 14th term of Iran's presidency, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, sent a message to the Islamic Ummah, the resistance fighters and the great nation of Palestine congratulating and condoling his martyrdom after a lifetime of jihad and fighting, and emphasised on the protection of the Islamic Republic of Iran from its territorial integrity and dignity.
Dr Pezeshkian's message is as follows:

The Zionist regime, which after months of killings, crimes and destruction in Gaza, has been deadlocked and is unable to escape the consequences of its historical policy based on occupation, terrorism, racial discrimination and mass murder, early this morning, targeted the beloved brother and warrior of the path of God, martyr Ismail Haniyeh, the Chairman of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Tehran, and martyred him in its criminal terrorist operation.
Martyrdom is the art of God's men and Martyr Ismail Haniyeh, who had previously lost many relatives and family members and leaders of the resistance movement under his leadership in the terrorist operations of Israel, after a lifetime of fight for the liberation of the Palestinian nation from the Zionist occupation, reached his lifetime wish and rushed to meet his Maker. I congratulate and offer my condolences to Ismail Haniyeh and his fellow martyr, to all the resistance fighters and the great nation of Palestine, and to the entire Islamic nation.
This terrorist act, like other crimes committed by the Zionist regime, violates international laws and regulations and shows the necessity of united action of the world, especially Islamic countries, to deal with this criminal and occupying regime.
This crime was committed in Tehran when our dear brother Martyr Ismail Haniyeh was an official guest of the President and the Islamic Republic of Iran and had travelled to Iran to participate in the presidential swearing-in ceremony.
The Islamic Republic of Iran will not waver in defending its territorial integrity, national sovereignty, honour and dignity, and the Zionist regime will soon see the results of its cowardly and terrorist actions.
