On Wednesday afternoon, Dr Masoud Pezeshkian met with Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who has travelled to Tehran at the head of a delegation to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of the 14th term of Iran's presidency, described the 120-year history of relations between Iran and Brazil as a strong support for the development of comprehensive relations between the two countries.
Stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great value and importance to strengthening and deepening relations with Brazil, especially in the commercial, economic, agricultural, and healthcare sectors, the President invited the economic activists of Brazil to visit Iran and learn more about the achievements and products of Iranian companies.
In another part of this meeting, Dr Pezeshkian called the criminal act of assassinating martyr Ismail Haniyeh, the Chairman of Hamas's political Bureau, as an indication of the barbarity of the Zionist regime and their lack of adherence to international laws and treaties, and added, "The criminal Zionist regime in Gaza is killing women and children and bombards schools and hospitals, but it is unfortunate that the self-proclaimed human rights advocates are supporting this regime".
In this meeting, the Vice President of Brazil, Mr Geraldo Alckmin, while congratulating the election of Dr Pezeshkian as the President of Iran, emphasised his country's interest in strengthening and expanding relations with Iran and added, "Last year, we celebrated the 120th anniversary of relations between the two countries and we hope to witness the expansion of interactions and relations in the coming period and during your presidency".
The Vice President of Brazil also emphasised the readiness of his country to expand the bilateral cooperation between Iran and Brazil from the commercial and agricultural sector to various fields such as health and treatment, pharmaceutical, energy, petrochemical and mining sectors, presenting the official invitation of Brazilian President Lula da Silva to Dr Pezeshkian to attend next year's BRICS summit in this country.
Geraldo Alckmin also condemned the criminal act of assassination of Ismail Haniyeh and the killing of Palestinian women and children in the Gaza Strip and emphasised the solidarity of the Brazilian government and nation with the Palestinian people.
