Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, on the sidelines of the tribute ceremony of the leaders and officials of foreign countries to the late President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country, met with the Acting President Dr Mohammad Mokhber and expressed his condolences for the loss of these two high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In this meeting, Dr Mohammad Mokhber, while thanking the government and people of Egypt for their kindness and sympathy with the government and people of Iran, said, “We have lost great, hardworking, compassionate and efficient personalities, and their loss is a bitter loss for the Iranian nation, but with empathy, we will get through these difficult times”.
Referring to the efforts of Ayatollah Raisi and Dr Amirabdollahian in creating cohesion and unity among the Islamic Ummah around the axis of Palestine, he said, “The efforts of these two great figures in supporting Palestine and bringing the message of the oppressed people of Gaza to the ears of the world will not be forgotten”.
In another part of his speech, the Acting President referred to the historical and civilisational history and the interest of the two nations of Iran and Egypt to each other, stating, "The restoration of relations and the development and deepening of interactions between the two countries, especially in the cultural, political and economic sectors, will continue with strength”.
Sameh Shoukry, who was the first foreign minister of Egypt to visit Iran after the Islamic Revolution, also expressed deep regret for this unfortunate loss and sympathised with the government and people of Iran, adding, "I wish we could visit Iran in a better condition, but now, I am conveying our condolence message of Mr Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President, and Mr Ahmed el-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, for this bitter loss to the government and nation of Iran”.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, while honouring the outstanding role of martyr Ayatollah Raisi and martyr Amirabdollahian in the interaction and convergence between Islamic countries, emphasised his country's interest in developing and strengthening relations with Iran and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is a deep-rooted system with strong foundations. We are confident that despite this unfortunate event, it will pass this critical period”.
