The multi-purpose project of Uma Oya dam and power plant in Sri Lanka, which was designed and built by Iranian companies, as one of the largest projects in the field of exporting technical-engineering services of the country in the fields of dam construction, water transfer and electricity generation, was inaugurated and put into operation with the presence of Iranian and Sri Lankan presidents.

Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, who left for a one-day trip to Sri Lanka this Wednesday morning, upon his arrival, went to the site of the Uma Oya dam and power plant project, 230 kilometres east of the country's capital, and along with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, inaugurated one of the largest export projects of Iranian technical-engineering services.
Uma Oya superproject includes two dams named Dairaba and Poholpola, 120 MW underground hydropower plant, 28 km of water transmission and access tunnels, three vertical shafts with a total length of 850 meters and 23 km of power transmission line.
