The President described the presence of the two countries in important regional organisations such as Shanghai and BRICS, as well as the efforts to implement the agreements made between the two countries, including the construction of the Rasht-Astara railway, as suitable grounds for strengthening cooperation, especially the promotion of economic and commercial relations between the two countries.

In a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, the President of the Russian Federation, while congratulating the Russian people's renewed trust in him and his re-election to this position, Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi expressed hope that the new Russian government’s, term would lay a suitable field for more development of constructive relations and cooperation between Iran and Russia in various fields.
In another part of this telephone conversation, referring to the continuation of the Zionist regime's crimes against the oppressed and powerful people of Gaza, Dr Raisi emphasised the need for effective international action to stop the criminal attacks of the Zionists and to lift the blockade and provide massive relief to the people of Gaza.
The Presidents of the two countries also expressed common regional interests, including in the Caucasus.
Calling the developments and movements in the South Caucasus region sensitive, the President emphasised the will and readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to maintain the stability of the region and the strategic interests of Iran.
In this telephone conversation, the President of Russia also thanked Dr Raisi for his written message and phone call to congratulate him on his re-election to the presidency of the Russian Federation and congratulated him on the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of the solar hijri new year, pointing out the impending finalisation of the draft comprehensive cooperation agreement of Iran and Russia and added, “The successful holding of the meeting of the joint commission for economic cooperation between the two countries in Tehran, as well as the 77% growth in goods trade between Iran and Russia are positive signs of the improvement of Tehran-Moscow cooperation”.
Vladimir Putin described the presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia in the BRICS and Shanghai organisations as a valuable opportunity to deepen the interactions between the two sides and clarified, “The two countries have similar positions on the issue of Israel's attacks on Gaza, and Russia is ready to cooperate more effectively with Iran in this field”.
