Saqqez Martyrs Airport, as the biggest construction project of Kurdistan province, was officially and completely opened and put into operation with the landing of the President's plane.
On Friday morning in the first part of the plans of the second day of the visit of the Popular Administration to the Kurdistan province, Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi officially opened the 180-hectare Saqqez Martyrs Airport as the biggest construction project of the province after 27 years of waiting.
The construction studies of this airport started in 1996 and continued until 2005, and from 2005 until 2014, about 70 billion Rials were spent on it, but in the end, the project's contractor and consultant were dismissed, and its implementation was stopped.
During the visit of the head of the 13th Administration to Kurdistan, 200 billion tomans were allocated for the completion of this project, and this airport was completed and put into operation with the efforts of the Popular Administration and by Iranian engineers in an area of 180 hectares and a terminal area of 2,500 square meters.
