The Presidents of Iran and Russia, while reviewing the latest situation of regional developments, emphasised the need to resolve the issues of the South Caucasus region in the dialogue between the two countries, as well as the dialogues in the form of "3+3" and avoiding the interference of outsiders in the issues related to the region.
Responding to the phone call of Mr Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi assessed the progress of the relations between the two countries as favourable and emphasised the acceleration of the implementation of joint agreements and projects, including in the fields of transit, transportation, exchange of energy and completion of the North-South Corridor.
Appreciating Russia's support for Iran's membership in the BRICS, the President added, "BRICS is one of the emerging organisations effective in shaping the multipolar world and a suitable field for the expansion of bilateral, regional and international interactions between Iran, Russia and other member countries".
Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, also stated in this telephone conversation, "The volume of trade between the two countries was a record breaking last year".
Expressing his hope for the implementation of the Rasht-Astara railway as soon as possible and connecting the railway lines of Iran, Azerbaijan and Russia to each other, and pointing out its significant impact on the increase of trade exchanges between these countries, the Russian President called Iran a strategic partner of Russia.
