Nehbandan-Birjand-Qaen-Yunesi railway infrastructure operations, as part of the north-south corridor that extends from Sarakhs to Chabahar, began with the presence of the President in South Khorasan province.
On Wednesday morning at the beginning of his travel plans to South Khorasan, Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi issued an order to officially start the construction of the Nehbandan-Birjand-Qaen-Yunesi railway as a part of the north-south corridor that extends from Sarakhs to Chabahar.
Zahedan, Zabol, Birjand to Mashhad railway has a total length of 910 km, of which 430 km is located in South Khorasan province.
This project will be implemented in 23 parts with a credit amounting to 1.7 billion euros and will have a total of 39 stations, and on its way, 112 large bridges with a length of 11,655 meters and 25 tunnels with a length of 11,710 meters will be built.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of this project, the President said that the connection to the country's rail network is one of the old wishes of the people of South Khorasan and the country's officials, and today the preparations for the realisation of this demand have been made and its implementation has begun with the blessed name of Imam Hussein (AS).
