In a meeting with the Vice-President of Cuba:

President: Iran-Cuba ties deep, growing/Stressing quicker implementation of agreements

President Rouhani met with the Vice-President of Cuba and said that relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Cuba are deep and growing after the Islamic Revolution, adding: "The Islamic Republic of Iran and Cuba have common causes such as independence and freedom and stand against domination and violating other nations' rights".

In the meeting that took place on Sunday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani described his last year visit to Cuba successful and fruitful, adding: “What was agreed in that visit should be operationalised. Your visit to Tehran is the indicator of political resolve by Cuba to develop ties with Iran”.

He stressed: “As some powers are attempting to violate their commitments and put freedom-seeking nations under pressure through sanctioning, resistance and solidarity among independent countries is essential”.

In the same meeting, the Vice-President of Cuba, Ulises del Toro also delivered the Cuban President’s message of congratulations to Dr Rouhani on his re-election and said: “Iran can always count on solidarity with the Cuban government and people”.

“Unity among independent countries that are on the same track in the global community must develop and deepen,” he continued saying.
