President: Deepening ties with African countries important to Iran/Stressing introducing cooperation potentials in both countries

The Islamic Republic of Iran attaches great weight to developing friendly ties with African countries and I hope this visit becomes a starting point for developing relations between Iran and Lesotho, said President Rouhani in a meeting with King Letsie III of Lesotho.

In the meeting that was held on Sunday, Dr Rouhani also said: "The two nations of Iran and Lesotho have close opinions, beliefs, wishes and causes and these cultural commonalities are good base to be used to the benefit of the two nations".

The Islamic Republic of Iran considers no obstacle in cementing relations between the two countries, said Rouhani, adding that consultation between Iran and Lesotho is very important in resolving regional and international issues, as well as combatting terrorism and preventing its spread..

At the same meeting, King Letsie III of Lesotho said: "There isclose friendship and cooperation between the two nations of Iran and Lesotho and I hope this visit contributes to development of relations and cooperation".

"We respect peaceful co-existence, not interfering in other countries' internal affairs, peace and security and are willing to develop ties with Iran and all countries that are working in this regard," he said.
