President in a meeting with Kazakh FM:

Tehran-Astana ties to develop in all fields/Stressing faster implementation of Iran-Kazakhstan agreements

“Without a doubt, we will witness deeper ties and relations between Tehran and Astana in 12th Administration’s term of office,” said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kairat Abdrakhmanov.

In the meeting that was held on Saturday in Tehran, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran referred to brotherly relations between the Presidents of the two countries and said: “In the 11th Administration, good agreements were reached between Iran and Kazakhstan, quicker implementation of which can be beneficial for both nations and the region”.

“The two countries can also develop their cooperation in various fields such as energy, rail transportation, tourism and goods transportation through Caspian Sea, as well as agriculture,” said the President.

 He also went on to say: “There are many projects in Iran, especially in oil, gas and petrochemicals that Kazakhstan can invest on; also there are projects in Kazakhstan that Iranian companies can work on”.

On collective efforts to combat terrorism, Dr Rouhani said: “It is essential that all countries, especially regional ones and those situated in central Asia, including Kazakhstan, to cooperate closely with each other in combatting terrorism and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide Kazakhstan with its experiences in this regard”.

During the same meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kairat Abdrakhmanov also congratulated Dr Rouhani on his re-election and said: “Today is a great day for not only the Islamic Republic of Iran, but also all friends of Iran”.

“The President of Kazakhstan closely follows the implementation of agreements made with Iran and today, Tehran-Astana relations has reached the level of strategic coordination,” he added.

He also added: “Kazakhstan is determined to take part in projects in Iran and we also invite Iran to have active participation in projects in Kazakhstan”.

Appreciating Iran for supporting Kazakhstan’s presence in the Security Council of the United Nations, he said: “Like the Islamic Republic of Iran, we believe that Caspian Sea must be the sea of friendship, cooperation, development and progress”.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan also invited Dr Rouhani to attend the coming summit of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is going to be held in Astana with the theme of science and technology.
