President in SCCR session:

People’s high turnout indicator of caring about system/People heeded Supreme Leader’s call/We all should work together to achieve common goals: production, employment, eliminating poverty

President Rouhani chaired the session of the Supreme Council of Cultural Revolution and congratulated the holy month of Ramadan, adding that people’s high turnout in the election was the indicator of their caring about the system.

At the session that was held on Tuesday, the President also said: “Exactly at 5the time that some countries in the region were trying to undermine Iran and the Revolution, people heeded the Supreme Leader’s call and participated the election, giving them the best answer possible”.

"Holding a spirited, competitive, healthy and high-security election at the heart of a region replete with tension and instability, is a great honour for the Islamic Republic of Iran," continued the President.

He added: "After the competitions finished, we all must work together to achieve the aims of production and employment, as well as eradicating poverty".

Regarding the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, Dr Rouhani said: "It is natural that the west or even the east attempt to promote or impose their own culture and lifestyle but we must work with Islamic countries and countries that we have common cultures with to defend and preserve our religious frameworks and national culture".

"There are many such documents and international conventions, especially in the UNICEF, that are not binding, and as explicitly stated in the 2030 Agenda, we will merely act based on our religions, legal and cultural framework and regulations," he continued.

The President also appreciated all teachers and the selfless personnel of the education system for their efforts and scientific, religious services.

During the session, the council also discussed issues with regard to the 2030 Agenda and heeding the Supreme Leader's consideration I this regard.
