Speaking at the ceremony on Monday, Dr Rouhani added: "The 11th government has proved with its actions that having better conditions is not possible through words, but with rationality".

The birthday of the forerunner of Ashura (Imam Hussein (AS)) is the day of respecting all war veterans and workers, said the President adding: "We will promise to continue the path of the late Imam [Khomeini] and Iran and Iranians' more respect".

Stating that there is a need to know the realities of the workers' lives to be able to manage the working atmosphere, he said: "During the 8 years before the 11th government, only 76,000 net jobs were created and the lights of thousands of production units were turned off".

"Instead of saying just words and making promises, we chose to see the realities and the path of improving people and workers' lives," added President Rouhani.

The first step for the workers is improving the working conditions, said Rouhani adding: "Today, our land is producing more wheat and we are exporting it but in 2011 and 2012 people were eyeing outside and we were importing wheat".

He went on to say: "Workers' hands is where the great prophet of Islam kisses," adding: "The Persian Gulf Refinery was constructed and started operation by the Iranian workers' hands and engineers, making us an exporter of standard petrol".

Stressing that by attracting investment and respecting the workers, partially-active production units must be fully activated, he said: "Workers' wages in this government has always been more than the inflation rate".

"Those who suffer the most from inflation are workers and those who have fixed incomes," the President said adding: "Why are those speaking about workers' rights today, were silent in the years before this government's term of office?"

The government did not let them deprive people of modern means of communication, he said, adding: "Our northern neighbour cut our gas supply in the winter with the hope of increasing the price but we provided our people's gas needs through domestic production".

"We will take back the last bill about workers' wages from the parliament and amend it," said the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Stating that the worst insecurity is job insecurity, he said: "Workers are a source of honour for Iran's economy".

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also went on to say: "Our northern neighbours' markets are ready to import Iranian products".
