Gov't to stand by people in flood-ravaged provinces/Ex gratia payments, low-interest loans to be made to flood-hit people/Appreciating Red Crescent, health ministry, armed forces' efforts

President Rouhani met with the people of Chenaar village in East Azerbaijan province and talked with them, saying that the government will stand by the people hit by the floods.

During the visit that took place on Wednesday, Dr Rouhani said: "The disaster, which happened in Chenaar village, Azarshahr, West Azerbaijan, Ardebil and Kurdistan, has profoundly saddened all Iranians".

"Those who have lost their lives in the disaster are not just your loved ones, but rather our brothers and sisters," added the President.

Referring to the lives lost and missing in the aftermath of the disaster, he said: "The government will do its utmost to rebuild the houses that are hit by the floods and in doing so, ex gratia payments and low-interest loans will be made to flood-hit people".

"The government will not let your hardships and problems to continue for a long time," continued the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He also said: "The government will make long-term decisions for such villages that are situated along rivers, being at the danger of floods".

Praising patience, resistance and empathy by the people of Chenaar village against the disaster, he said: "The government has made the necessary decisions to help all those hit by the floods and we told the treasury to take the necessary actions in this regard".

"It is very important that the people feel all authorities are by them when an incident happens and you need to know that all authorities, from the Supreme Leader to the government, members of the parliament, ministers, governor generals, and other officials have been- and are beside you," Dr Rouhani continued.

Appreciating efforts by the Red Crescent Society, Ministry of Health and Medical Education, and all armed forces, he said: "We must not forget each other in hard times and the government will stand by you with all its might".

"I order the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, as well as the Housing Foundation to start rebuilding the houses, which are hit by the floods, today," he added..
