President in a meeting with his Russian counterpart:

No obstacle on the way of deepening Iran-Russia ties/Tehran-Moscow cooperation helps regional stability, security, development/Iran, Russia ties not detrimental to any third party

Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation discussed ways of developing ties in various fields, stressing that there is no obstacle on the way of developing Tehran-Moscow relations.

Relations between Iran and Russia have entered a new phase and now we can speak about sustainable and long-term relations, said President Rouhani in the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Russia.
During the meeting that was held on Tuesday in Moscow, Dr Rouhani referred to his first foreign visit in the new year to Russia as a very important move and said that Tehran attaches great weight to ties with its neighbours, especially Russia.
He added: “Iran-Russia relations are developing in all fields, which is beneficial to both nations and also the region”.
He mentioned 8 meetings with the President of Russia in the last 3.5 years and continued: “With every meeting, has come a new development in Tehran-Moscow relations and without a doubt, this visit will contribute to better ties”.
Dr Rouhani also referred to regional and international cooperation between the two countries in the field of combatting terrorism and said: “Iran and Russia have had new and successful experiences in recent years and in cooperation for combatting terrorism and regional stability”.
“Our ultimate goal is to contribute to peace and stability and development in the region and these bilateral relations will not be detrimental to any third-party country,” continued the President.
At the same meeting, the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin said: “We are determined to develop ties with Iran in all fields”.
“Russia considers the Islamic Republic of Iran a good and trustworthy partner,” continued Putin, adding: “In the field of international issues and resolving them, the two countries have very good and fruitful cooperation and will accelerate this cooperation”.
He also expressed satisfaction over good economic relations and ties between the two nations, describing the 70% growth in tourism as the result of cooperation of the two governments.
