President in a meeting with the Speaker of the People's Council of Syria:

Palestine the most important issue of Islamic World/We will stand by Syrian nation until final victory

"The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue supporting the Syrian people until they achieve final victory," said President Rouhani in a meeting with the Speaker of the People's Council of Syria, Hadiya Khalaf Abbas.

At the meeting that was held on Wednesday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani added: "In recent months, we have witnessed very positive development in Syria, in a way that after the latest victories in the international stage, other governments have changed their views about the country and feel that they have to surrender to realities in Syria".

"Like always, Iran will continue fighting terrorism and supporting the coming negotiations by standing by the people of the country," said Rouhani.

He also referred to the Syrian people's hard times and added: "One of the reasons of pressure on the Syrian people in recent years is Syria's support of the Palestinian nation".

He added: "Syria has always been at the forefront of resistance and most of the pressures are because of this".

Stressing peace and stability in Syria, he said: "Palestine is the most important issue of the Islamic World and we hope that his conference can be a big step in resolving the issues of the region".

At the same meeting, the Speaker of the People's Council of Syria, Hadiya Khalaf Abbas also conveyed the Syrian government, nation and parliament and said: "The Syrian people value Iran's unsparing support and, without a doubt, if it were not for this support, resistance and victory would not be achieved".

She also mentioned good coordination between Iran and Syria against terrorism, adding: "This coordination has had very positive results and the Syrian problem has taken a constructive direction in its political and military aspects".

Underscoring further development of Tehran-Damascus ties, she said: "Syria attaches great weight to deepening inclusive ties with Iran".
