He added: "It is important that Iranian and Armenian entrepreneurs of the two countries be familiarised with trade and economic potentials of each other".

Describing old relationship and belonging to the same civilisation as a great asset, Dr Rouhani said: "Armenians living in Iran are a strong bridge connecting the two countries and we should use this opportunity to further deepen ties".

He also underscored that Iranian and Armenian authorities should lay the groundwork for developing ties, adding: "Today, the authorities of the two countries have the strong resolve to do so; something that, if present, will remove the obstacles easily".

Referring to abolishing visa regime, he also said that it would be a great step for developing tourism, scientific, academic and cultural ties.

He went on to mention authorities' attempt to increase Iran's gas export to Armenia, adding: "Banking relations between the two countries should be fully established to further accelerate economic and trade ties".

"Using Aras Free Zone can further facilitate the two countries' relations," the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran added.

He continued: "The two countries can turn into a transit corridor between North and South. Connecting the Black Sea to the Persian Gulf will result in a great development in economic and trade ties between the two countries and the region".

We see no obstacle on the path of developing cooperation between Iran and Armenia, said Rouhani adding: "The existing security in both countries is a good base for deepening economic ties".

On preferential trade, he said: "Without a doubt, we will witness improved relations between the two nations in different economic, scientific and technological fields".

At the same event, the President of Armenia also said that Armenia was determined to increase the level of guarantee to Iranian merchants, adding: "I hope we reach the time of signing free trade agreement soon".

He also said that his country was willing to establish direct flights between Tehran and Yerevan.
