President in a meeting with Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia:

Tehran willing to develop ties with Jakarta in all fields/Stressing Iran-Indonesia cooperation in fighting terrorism, resolving Islamic world issues

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is willing to develop ties with Indonesia in all fields,” said President Rouhani in a meeting with Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan.

In the meeting that was held on Tuesday in Tehran, Dr Rouhani said: “Iran and Indonesia have ample opportunities and capacities to develop ties in all fields of mutual interest, such as oil and gas and construction of roads, bridges, dams and power plants”.
He also expressed hope that the authorities of both countries attempt to increase commercial ties to $2 billion.
“The real Islam is the Islam of compassion, moderation and unity among Muslims because we can increase its power by unity and protect the Islamic culture,” he added.
Referring to close relations between Iranian and Indonesian scholars and clerics, he said: “The two countries’ cooperation is very important in resolving the issues and problems of the Islamic world”.
Dr Rouhani also added that Yemen, Syria and Iraq are suffering from instability and other issues, and added: “We all should use all our power to restore security to these countries and help them protect the Muslims and the people of these regions”.
Stressing that the two countries should cooperate in fighting terrorism, he continued: “Terrorism is a big issue in the region, Eastern Asia and other parts of the world”.
“We should introduce the true Islam to the public opinions of the world and drive out terrorists from Islamic lands,” he continued.
At the same meeting, the Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan said: “Iran and Indonesia, as two major Islamic countries, can use the opportunities of cooperation in all fields and attempt to develop these ties and cooperation”.
We should introduce the moderate Islam to the world and invite all Muslims to put their disagreements aside, he said, adding: “Iran and Indonesia can cooperate to take effective steps in this regard”.
