President arrives in Ahvaz

President Rouhani arrived in Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan province Sunday morning in order to open several provincial projects and plans.

Upon arrival at the airport, Dr Rouhani was received by the Governor General of Khuzestan and a number of local officials.

Speaking to reporters at Ahvaz International Airport, Dr Rouhani described Khuzestan as the brave border guard of the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying: “In this visit, we will follow up plans that were initialised in the government’s first visit to the province”.

“We will also take the necessary measures to solve issues of the province and then we will see off the immense crowd of Imam Hussein mourners in Shalamcheh,” he continued.

He also said that the visit is aimed at opening several projects, the most important of them being two water supply projects in the east of Ahvaz and Azadegan Plain, traffic control system in the southern part of the country, oil fields in Yadavaran and Azadegan.

“We will also visit the plan of 550-hectare agricultural lands,” Dr Rouhani continued.

President is accompanied by a number of ministers, his chief of staff, as well as cultural advisor.
