President leaves Cuba for New York

President Rouhani left Cuban capital, Havana for New York to participate in the 71st United Nations General Assembly.

Dr Rouhani entered Havana on Monday and took part in the meeting of high-ranking delegations of Iran and Cuba after being officially received by the President of Cuba Raúl Castro.

President also met with the leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro.

The trip to Havana took place after Dr Rouhani attended the 17th NAM Summit in Margarita Island, Venezuela and handed over the presidency to Venezuela.

During his visit to Venezuela, President Rouhani addressed the Non-Aligned Movement Summit and explained the Islamic Republic of Iran’s viewpoints and stances regarding the most important regional and international issues, highlighting NAM member states’ duties. He also met with a number of presidents and high-ranking officials of other countries attending the summit.
