Tehran welcomes deepening ties with Caracas/NAM can have a role in today’s world/Iran ready to transfer NAM presidency experience

“Tehran welcomes development of ties with Caracas,” said President Rouhani in a meeting with the President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro late on Friday local time.

Mentioning that Iran is ready to transfer its experiences achieved from its 4-year Non-Aligned Movement presidency to Venezuela, he said: “Non-Aligned Movement can play a great role in today’s world and the member countries should advance their collective interests through unity and mutual cooperation”.

Dr Rouhani also referred to low oil prices over a long period and its impacts on global economy and added: “Market stability, fair prices and also fair share of oil-producing countries guarantees sustainable benefits for producers and consumers of energy”.

He also expressed Iran’s willingness to cooperate with Venezuela in various fields such as economy and investment, calling for activation of joint committee to advance upcoming plans and programs.

At the meeting, President of Venezuela stressed that Caracas is determined to develop ties and cooperation with Tehran in all field and added: “Iran and Venezuela have a great number of opportunities to develop relations and we are willing to form joint ventures in industry, infrastructure and energy”.

President Maduro, too, underscored that joint economic committee between the two countries should be activated and said that the committee can further stimulate Tehran-Caracas relations.

On low oil prices, he said: “Oil-producing countries have been severely affected by the decline in oil prices and should exercise unity to stabilise the prices”.
