President in a meeting with Burundi FM:

Development of ties with African states important for Iran/Non-aligned countries should have int’l roles by fostering cooperation

“Today, Iran and African countries have common goals and causes and we can support each other in many international communities and developments,” said President while meeting with Burundi Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Alain Aimé Nyamitwe.

Underscoring the importance of development of ties and mutual, regional and international cooperation between the two countries, Dr Rouhani said on Tuesday: “Non-aligned countries should have roles in international stages by fostering cooperation”.

He also referred to terrorism, political interference and military presence by some western countries in many regions of the world as the issues of the global community and said that the non-aligned countries should have positive roles in settling these issues.

During the same meeting, Foreign Minister Alain Aimé Nyamitwe delivered the written message of the President of Burundi to Dr Rouhani and said: “Iran and Burundi have common goals, values and views on mutual, regional and international cooperation and we should make more efforts to further strengthen these ties”.

He then thanked Iran’s support of Burundi nation and independence and called for development of ties between the two countries in international stage, as well as the movement of non-aligned countries.

Mentioning interference by some western countries in internal affairs of the country, he briefed President Rouhani on the internal situation and conditions of Burundi.
