Tehran welcomes deepening ties with Doha/Iran ready to increase consultation on regional stability, security

Iran’s ties with Qatar as a neighbouring country is brotherly and Tehran welcomes deepening ties with Doha, said President Rouhani in a telephone conversation with Emir of Qatar.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and Qatar have common goals and interests and can have closer cooperation and consultation to achieve their aims, which are development and stability of the region,” said President Rouhani in the telephone conversation that was initiated by Emir of Qatar on Wednesday.

Stressing resolving issues in the region through discussion, he added: “Tehran is ready to increase consultation with friend countries in the region, especially Qatar, to boost stability and security in the region”.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always had good wishes for the countries of the region and hopes to be able to ensure stability and peace in the region that can secure interests of all countries through cooperation with its neighbouring countries,” added Rouhani.

He also underscored the need for strategic discussion between Iran and other countries of the region and wished for success and pride of Qatari government and nation.

During the telephone conversation, the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani congratulated the advent of Ramadan month to Dr Rouhani and said: “Qatar is proud of its close and amicable ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran and I hope that we witness further development of these ties”.

Referring to Iran’s key and strategic position in resolving regional issues, he said that Qatar welcomes establishment of good and strategic relations between Iran and countries located in the southern coast of the Persian Gulf.
