President at a breaking-fast meal ceremony with orphans and IKRF-supported families:

Gov’t considers helping orphans, low-income families a duty/All efforts should be directed towards empowering poor families

Islam considers human society and especially the Islamic society as a big family, said President Rouhani at a breaking-fast meal ceremony with orphans and low-income families under the support of Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation late on Tuesday.

Stressing more effort to help the poor and contribute to their self-reliance, the President said: “If kindness and affection rules in a society, it will increase God’s mercy and the government considers helping orphans and low-income families its duty”.

 “We have a heavy duty towards all beloved children of the country and a Muslim considers all children of the society as its own children,” continued Rouhani.

Referring to the downward trend in families supported by the Foundation and said: “This figure shows that all those who are involved in this effort feel responsible both religiously and humanly. This shows that we are moving in the right direction”.

“These dear children should be supported from scientific, physical and emotional aspects and feel that the society is standing by them and supporting them,” continued the President.

After the meal, Dr Rouhani had friendly conversations with the orphans and also led evening and night prayers.

At the ceremony, the chief of Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation gave a report on the figures and the measures taken by the charity foundation.
