New chapter in Iran-France ties started/Cementing Tehran-Paris ties boosts fighting terrorism/Stressing swift implementation of mutual agreements

Tehran welcomes development and deepening of ties with Paris in all areas of mutual interest, said President while he was receiving the new French ambassador to Tehran’s letter of credence.

During the meeting with Ambassador François Sénémaud that took place on Tuesday, Dr Rouhani said: “A new chapter in relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of France has started and swift implementation of mutual agreements can further deepen these ties”.

Referring to historical ties and cultural commonalities between the two countries, President Rouhani added: “The two great countries have extensive capacities and capabilities and their ties should be developed in various fields such as economy, politics, science, culture and regional issues”.

Mentioning the agreements made during his latest visit to Paris, Dr Rouhani said: “Very important documents were signed between the two countries to further develop ties that their swift implementation, especially in the field of banking transactions, will further pave the way for development of cooperation, especially between the private sectors of the two countries”.

“Regarding their capabilities, Iran and France can play significant roles in strengthening the bases of peace and stability in the region,” said Rouhani while underscoring the need for peaceful conditions in the region, especially in Syria and Iraq.

He also said that terrorism is a significant issue for the world and continued: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has concentrated its efforts on fighting terrorism from a long time ago and cooperation between the two countries can accelerate this fight”.

Dr Rouhani also expressed hope that ties between the two countries be further developed during the new ambassador’s term of office.

During the same meeting, the new ambassador of France to Tehran François Sénémaud said: “Paris is determined to develop and deepen ties with Tehran in all areas of mutual interest”.

“France will do its utmost for the swift implementation of bilateral agreements,” added Sénémaud.
