Tehran-Ashgabat ties development a must/Stressing multilateral, regional, int’l cooperation

President Rouhani had a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Raşit Meredow and stressed that Iran and Turkmenistan should cement multilateral, regional and international ties

In the meeting that was held on Saturday, Dr Rouhani said: “Iran and Turkmenistan have had successful joint cooperation with each other and this cooperation should be developed to benefit the two nations and regional cooperation”.
On Caspian Sea, the President said: “Connecting railways and stretching it to Central and East Asia has contributed to the development of strategic ties between Iran and Turkmenistan”.
He also referred to cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy and said: “Iran is a gate for Central Asian countries to connect to the Persian Gulf and southern waters and Turkmenistan is a gate to Central Asian countries and even East Asian countries and the two countries should cooperate with each other”.
Dr Rouhani also stressed cooperation on tourism, regional security and stability, drug smuggling and combatting terrorism between Iran and Turkmenistan.
At the same meeting, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Raşit Meredow delivered a message of greeting from the President of this country and called for bolstering ties between Tehran and Ashgabat in all fields of mutual interest.
