Iran welcomes deepening ties with Iceland

President Rouhani referred to capacities and opportunities of Iran and Iceland and said that Tehran welcomes deepening ties with Iceland in different fields such as economy, new technologies and renewable energies.

During the meeting with the new Accredited Ambassador of Iceland to Tehran which was held on Tuesday, Dr Rouhani said: “Increased interaction between delegations of the two countries, as well as cooperation between the private sectors of Iran and Iceland will play a vital role in developing ties”.

At the same meeting, Ambassador Hermann Ingólfsson called for further development of ties between his country and the Islamic Republic of Iran and said: “The two countries can cooperate in the field of clean and renewable energy and also other fields”.

He also referred to strengthened ties between the two countries during the recent years and said: “Developing ties with a great country such as Iran is definitely very important to Iceland”.
