“Iran and Estonia enjoy extensive facilities for development and deepening of mutual cooperation and we should tap the facilities to open new doors for development of ties in areas of mutual interest,” said Dr Rouhani in this meeting with Foreign Minister of Estonia Marina Kaljurand which was held on Sunday in Tehran.

Stressing the need to boost Tehran-Tallinn cooperation in cultural, scientific and research fields, President said: “We should take steps in the path of development of cultural ties by exchanging students and professors, as well as preparing the groundwork”.

On terrorism issue, he added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is concerned about the instability in some countries, from the North African states to some in the Middle East and the region”.

“Most of these countries are facing terrorist groups and their actions that are aimed at creating instability; trying to create stability and security in these countries can help stabilise the region and the whole world as well; because experience has proved that if terrorist groups are not seriously confronted, the crisis could spread to other regions, as well as Europe,” he continued.

Dr Rouhani also mentioned that Iran has been home to millions of displaced refugees and has helped the nations and states of the region to combat terrorism, adding: “One of the areas of cooperation between Iran and the EU is consultation and coordination for maintaining stability and security in the region and we hope that by strengthening these consultation we can witness fruitful, effective and constructive cooperation in the path of bolstering peace in the region”.

In this meeting, Foreign Minister of Estonia Marina Kaljurand described the Islamic Republic of Iran as one of the key actors in the region and the world and said: “Estonia is willing to develop ties with Tehran in all fields of mutual interest”.

Referring to her accompanying trade delegation, she added: “New opportunities have arisen for Tehran- Tallinn ties and deepening these ties can definitely be beneficial to the two nations and states”.

“We are determined to develop ties with Iran and we will use all our facilities in this regard,” she continued.
