In a meeting with the German FM;

President stresses developing Tehran-Berlin ties in the new environment

President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with the German Foreign Minister described the position of Germany and Iran in the region and the world as very significant and effective.

In this meeting which was held late on Saturday in Tehran, President Rouhani told Frank-Walter Steinmeier: “Tehran and Berlin should use the post-JCPOA opportunities and expand and deepen cooperation in all areas of interest.

President continued: “Tehran-Berlin ties has always been friendly and the two countries have been able to cooperate on solving global issues in many point in time”

Pointing to the recent trips by German Deputy Chancellor and the accompanying economic delegation to Tehran, he expressed hope that the achievements of the said trip would further reinforce the two countries ties.
Saying that Germany has always had an effective role in the long period of nuclear talks, Dr. Rouhani said: "The JCPOA as a successful model was a great achievement for all the negotiating parties and has created a very good atmosphere at the international arena for the interaction and dialogue on other issues, as well".
President Rouhani reiterated that the exact implementation of the JCPOA is for, and in case failure in its full execution will be against all, thus all the seven negotiating parties should give pledges for the full implementation of the obligations in order to feel winner.
"The collective benefit and economic cooperation between Iran and Germany serves as a key point which can fully consolidate bases of the agreement, he added.
Pointing to the spread of terrorism and the necessity of all countries endeavors to tackle it, President said:"Iran and Germany not only can promote their mutual relations but also shares their experiences and cooperate to solve the regional and international issues esp. by an effective way of combating terrorism and establishing peace and stability in the region".
"Although there may be some differences among countries on some issues, however, settlement of such problems as terrorism is possible through commitment of all countries to the basic and important principles and by avoiding double-standards", Dr Rouhani said.
Underscoring that a number of people should accept that terrorist groups cannot be suitable means for the materialization of their objectives, Rouhani said lack of a serious will by some countries to combat terrorism is among other problems in this regard.
Steinmeier for his part said:"There have been many joint endeavors to reach an agreement, therefore now I am here in Tehran to start a serious move for the revival of the high-level ties based on the existing potentialities".
With a reference to the accompanying economic, cultural and legislative delegation, German Foreign Minister described the delegation as a comprehensive one, bigger than the one accompanied the Deputy Chancellor and said: "This prove different German activists 'willingness to expand relations with their Iranian partners, therefore I am personally eager to contribute to further expansion of bilateral relations, as well".
Also pointing to the recent visit to Tehran by three big German economic delegations, he said: As two more big delegations are to visit Iran, this proves good sings for the decisive will by both sides to expand and deepen the ties in different fields of mutual interests.
Steinmeier also referred to his recent talks with Iranian counterpart to tackle regional terrorism, and said: "It is natural every country try to tackle Terrorism based on its own interests, therefore all should strive for tackling menaces of terrorism in the region on political and moral grounds and remove all the barriers of direct talks and cooperation among countries".
