Dr Raisi: Tehran-Ashgabat ties cementing rapidly on the basis of mutual trust/ We are ready to increase the capacity of Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan gas swap through our country/ Sardar Bardi Mohammadov thanks Ayatollah Raisi's efforts to improve ties between the two countries

The Presidents of Iran and Turkmenistan met on Tuesday to review and evaluate the progress of the implementation of the agreements and memoranda concluded between the two countries, and stressed that the full implementation of these cooperation documents will open a new chapter in the two countries' interactions and boost Tehran-Ashgabat economic and trade relations.

Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, who is in Turkmenistan to attend the 6th Summit of the Caspian Sea Littoral States, met with Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and referred to the friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries turning 30 years old and said, "The 13th Administration attaches a special priority to develop relations and cooperation with neighbours”.
The President said that the relations between Tehran and Ashgabat are expanding rapidly based on the development of neighbourly relations and on the basis of mutual trust and extensive cooperation, adding, "The implementation of memoranda of understanding and cooperation documents that were signed during your recent visit to Tehran will accelerate the level and expansion of cooperation between the two countries”.
Dr Raisi pointed out, "Facilitating the issuance of business visas and increasing the travel of businesspeople of the two countries will provide the ground for expanding and increasing the volume of bilateral trade relations”.
“Also, according to the recent request of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to increase the capacity of the Turkmenistan’s gas swap to Azerbaijan through our country,” he said.
Ayatollah Raisi also expressed hope that in the Sixth Summit of the Caspian Sea Littoral States, understandings and decisions will be provided for all neighbouring countries to make more and better use of this capacity, saying, "There is no doubt that negotiations including what is happening in the context of this summit can lead to better use of the Caspian Sea's potential for peaceful purposes, while respecting environmental considerations and emphasising the prevention of outsiders’ presence”.
At the same meeting, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow also praised Ayatollah Raisi's efforts to improve relations between the two countries and stressed his country's will to fully implement the memoranda of understanding and agreements reached between the two countries.
The President of Turkmenistan called the Caspian Sea a common capital for its five littoral states and said, "We must work together to protect this God-given blessing, while making better use of its potential".
