Speaking in a joint press conference with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, on Thursday afternoon, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi expressed his satisfaction with the Emir of Qatar’s visit to Iran and said, "In bilateral talks, in addition to expanding relations between Iran and Qatar in political, economic and trade, cultural, tourism and energy areas, we also emphasised on joint investments between the two countries”.
Pointing out that in their talks with the Emir of Qatar, the two sides stressed the need to speed up the conclusion of the agreements reached during their visit to the country last March, the President added, “Meeting of the relevant officials of Iran and Qatar, as well as the regular holding of a joint commission for cooperation between the two countries help actualise these agreements”.
Dr Raisi stated that the two countries also stressed the importance of resolving regional issues, adding, “Iran and Qatar stressed that the intervention of foreign and Western countries in the region will be detrimental to regional security”.
"In our talks with the Emir of Qatar, we also stressed that the siege of Yemen must be lifted as soon as possible," he said, adding that Iran and Qatar believe that it is only the Yemeni people who can decide the future of their country.
Ayatollah Raisi also continued, "The two sides stressed in their talks that the people of Afghanistan should have an inclusive government that can include all political groups and all ethnicities and can establish lasting security in Afghanistan".
The President noted, "In our talks with the Emir of Qatar, we emphasised the liberation of Palestine and Holy Quds, and we stressed that the siege of the people of Gaza must be broken. Also, the horrible crimes committed by the Zionist Regime must end. In this regard, I offer my condolences on the martyrdom of Ms Shireen Abu Akleh to her family and the Emir of Qatar and her colleagues at Al-Jazeera. We are sure that such crimes cannot bring security for the Zionist Regime in any way, but they will increase the public hatred for the crimes of the Zionist Regime”.
Dr Raisi continued, "We should express our condolences not only to the journalists of Al-Jazeera, but also to all journalists around the world that a free journalist was martyred by the Zionist Regime, and today the community of journalists and media should be proud of themselves for spreading the voice of oppression of the Palestinian people to the world and on the other hand to know that these crimes will not be lasting”.
The President said, "Without a doubt, the visit of the Emir of Qatar to the Islamic Republic of Iran is a turning point in promoting relations between the two countries and the two nations, and it will certainly play a significant role in strengthening interaction and cooperation between the two countries in bilateral, regional and international fields".
In this press conference, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed satisfaction with being in Iran, and described the relations between Iran and Qatar as strong and solid and based on good neighbourliness, and said, “The recent visit of the President of Iran to Qatar was very important and a factor for strengthening the relations between the two countries”.
Stating that he is here today to emphasise that Qatar seeks to strengthen and advance these relations as much as possible, the Emir of Qatar added, "Today, in addition to discussing bilateral issues, we emphasised that resolving disputes in the region cannot happen without dialogue, and we agreed with Mr President on this”.
He continued, "The two sides stressed in their talks that the conflicts in the region should be resolved through constructive dialogue and fair and comprehensive solutions. The main topic was the Palestinian issue, and we talked about Syria and Iraq as well”.
Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed his condolences to the family of Ms Shireen Abu Akleh, who was martyred by the forces of the occupying regime in al-Quds, and said, "We emphasise that the perpetrators of this crime should be punished and the world should not treat this with double standards".
The Emir of Qatar added, "We have always had a positive view of the Vienna talks, because we believe that talks are the solution to this issue".
He also mentioned the holding of the World Cup in his country, saying, "We welcome all Iranians who are interested in attending this event and watching the matches of their national team in person, and we welcome everyone. I would like to emphasise that this event will definitely be an exceptional one, and I thank the President and the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran for their help in holding a successful World Cup”.
