President at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus:

Public vaccination must continue powerfully/ Emphasis on comprehensive roadmap for fighting COVID-19/ Reopenings must be carefully planned, monitored so that public health is not endangered

Speaking on Saturday at the meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus, Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi referred to the important achievements in the production and import of COVID-19 vaccine, saying, "The Ministry of Health and Medical Education should support the vaccine produced by domestic companies so that their products are distributed to the market with the required quality”.

Appreciating the countries that cooperate in sending vaccines to Iran, the President said, "I sincerely appreciate all the countries that have sent vaccines to us, especially China, and I believe that such humanitarian cooperation should always continue between friendly countries and in the region".

Stating that the continuation of fighting coronavirus requires the development of a comprehensive roadmap, Ayatollah Raisi said, "In this roadmap, all health, social, economic and medical issues must be carefully considered so that by clarifying the future situation, gets us out of passive actions against the outbreak of the disease".

Vaccination is a preventative measure, but it is not enough, he said, adding, "Therefore, I ask all people to observe health protocols alongside vaccination".

Referring to the need to fully observe health guidelines in the process of reopening schools, universities, stadiums and Friday prayers, Ayatollah Raisi said, "Relevant officials in the process of these reopening should make the necessary plans and supervision so as not to endanger people's health".

Emphasising the importance of persuading public opinion and timely and accurate information on COVID-19, Ayatollah Raisi said, "Our policy in this regard is persuasive, not coercive, and we believe that with explanation and enlightenment, we can gain people's trust and enlighten them".

Dr Raisi also considered it necessary to respond to the scepticism raised on social media about the treatment of COVID-19 and said, "Medical universities should allocate a section for a scientific and logical response to the scepticisms raised".

Reiterating the strict control of entry and exit at the country's international borders and airports, the President said, "The governor-generals of border provinces and the relevant officials must carefully control the entry and exit from the country, and entry into the country must be accompanied by vaccination".

Ayatollah Raisi said, "The downtrend of the disease with the implementation of Shahid Soleimani Scheme, public education and observance of health protocols are among the conditions for reducing restrictions that must be considered".

Dr Raisi considered it necessary to pay attention to public education along with accurate and continuous information and said, "Academics and tribune holders have an important role in this field and in the field of vaccine effectiveness, it is necessary for scientific and academic centres to continuously monitor scientific and research developments because future actions depend on the results of this research".

The President also appreciated the Police's extensive and constructive cooperation with the National Task Force Against Coronavirus and said, "The police force has constructive law enforcement, security and social measures throughout the country and has useful cooperation with the National Task Force Against Coronavirus".
