Iran-Armenia ties always friendly, constructive/ Formation of specialised work groups can be a turning point in deepening Tehran-Yerevan economic ties

Stating that the historical relations between Iran and Armenia have always been friendly and constructive, the President said, "With the existing will between the political leaders of Tehran and Yerevan, a new period of extensive economic cooperation can be marked."

Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi stressed the need to increase the current level of economic relations between Iran and Armenia during a meeting with the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan at his residence in Tajikistan this morning on the second day of his visit to Tajikistan.
Ayatollah Raisi added, “The formation of specialised work groups on economic issues, including in the field of energy exchange, transportation, joint production projects and financial exchanges can be a suitable stimulus and a turning point in improving the level of interaction between the two countries”.
Referring to the capacities of industrial sector and private sector of Iran to provide Armenia with its goods and services, Dr Raisi stated, "Specialised work groups should advance agreements and economic cooperation based on a timetable to remove the possible problems and obstacles in the implementation of these agreements”.
The Prime Minister of Armenia also said that the development of relations with neighbours is one of the principles of his country's foreign policy, adding, “The fact that your government has made strengthening its relations with its neighbours a priority of its foreign policy can start a new and fruitful period of relations between the two countries”.
Nikol Pashinyan described the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in regional relations as very constructive and added, "Iran's role in the region has always contributed to stability and we welcome Iran's initiatives to resolve regional issues".
Welcoming Ayatollah Raisi's proposal to make the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation of the two countries more active, he emphasised, "I will instruct the relevant ministers to remove the obstacles to the implementation of the previous agreements between Iran and Armenia".
