Ayatollah Raisi to visit Tajikistan

Ayatollah Dr Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, is travelling to Dushanbe on Thursday at the official invitation of the President of Tajikistan to attend the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

On his first foreign trip as president, Ayatollah Raisi is going to travel to the country at the official invitation of his Tajik counterpart, Emom Ali Rahmon, to attend and address the SCO summit.

In addition to attending the summit, the president will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations present at the SCO summit. The President will be accompanied on this trip by a high-ranking delegation of political and economic officials of Iran.

Dr Raisi will also have a bilateral meeting with the President of Tajikistan after the Shanghai Summit.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation was established in 2001 with the aim of combating terrorism and extremism and increasing economic cooperation, and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been one of its observer members.
